BGCT taps convention planner
___Don Robinson, former special events coordinator at St. Philip's School and Community Center in Dallas, has joined the Baptist General Convention of Texas Executive Board staff as manager of convention services.
___Robinson will serve as meeting planner for the annual state convention, coordinating logistical arrangements and working with local committees, according to Becky Bridges, director of the BGCT Communications Center.
___Tom Brannon, retired director of communications, will work alongside Robinson in completing arrangements for the 2002 meeting in Waco.
___Robinson comes to the post with more than 10 years of experience in special-events planning and 14 years in the ministry.
___Robinson is the former editor-in-chief of the Dallas Weekly, an award-winning African-American newspaper, and he was a general assignments reporter at the San Angelo Standard-Times. He was director of recruitment and admissions at Paul Quinn College in Dallas.
___He is an assistant minister at Singing Hills Baptist Church in Dallas, was interim pastor at Crossover Mission in Dallas and was pastor in Cincinnati, Ohio.
___Robinson is a graduate of Angelo State University. His wife, Nebra, is administrative assistant in the BGCT office of African-American ministries.
