___SANTA FE--The battle over high school football prayers in the Galveston suburb of Santa Fe features Baptists on both ends of the playing field--and even some attempting to referee from the middle.
___Marion Ward, a Baptist minister's daughter, came to national attention last fall for a pre-game prayer she gave in the Galveston suburb of Santa Fe. Her prayer sparked a suit that is now before the Supreme Court.
__Debbie Mason and her four daughters found themselves on the minority side of the emotional issue, which has left them at odds with members of their own church.
Buckner kicks off orphan shoe drive
___DALLAS--Buckner Orphan Care International is asking Texas Baptist churches to take steps to help orphan children through the "Shoes for Orphan Souls" drive. Buckner will collect brand-new shoes in August for children living in Russian, Romanian and Chinese orphanages.
Innovative church conference highlights four working models

___GLORIETA, N.M.--Four distinctive worship styles aimed at reaching unchurched people were demonstrated and discussed during the National Innovative Church Leadership Conference at Glorieta Baptist Conference Center.
___Participants--which included a number of older adults--stood, clapped, sang, swayed and even danced a little as they experienced the worship styles that are attracting new and often untouched and unchurched generations.
