International Mission Board
appoints seven Texans
___RICHMOND, Va.--Seven Texans were among more than 50 people appointed to missionary service by the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention during a service at Glorieta, N.M.
___ David Davison will serve in Spain as a community outreach supervisor.
___Born in Tifton, Ga., he currently is a member of Willow Creek Baptist Church in Fort
Worth and has been a student at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
___From 1987 to 1989, Davison served in Denia, Spain, as an IMB journeyman.
___ Alan and Leah Fleming will live in Kenya, where they will work with the Borana people, one of the largest unevangelized people groups in that nation. He is worship leader at Kirvin Baptist Church in Kirvin.
___He earned the master of divinity degree from Southwestern Seminary and served as pastor of Forest Baptist Church in Fort Worth as well as Angus Baptist Church in Angus.
___Born in Mexia, she is the daughter of the late William and Frances Tooke. She received the bachelor of arts degree from East Texas Baptist University.
___ Gary Ramey and Cathy Coats-Ramey will start and develop churches among Russians in Latvia. Coats-Ramey, a physician, also will use her medical skills to serve the people there.
___Ramey previously was lay pastor of Clayton Homes Community Church, an inner-city mission congregation in Houston. Coats-Ramey was a physician in the emergency department at St. Joseph Hospital in Houston.
___The Rameys consider New Caney and Nacogdoches their hometowns and Forest Cove Baptist Church in Kingwood their home church.
___Born in Rusk, he is the son of Charles Ramey of Jacksonville and Martha Ann Jones of Nacogdoches. He is a graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, the University of Houston and the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. He also attended Southwestern Seminary.
___Ramey has been director of earth sciences at the WCM Group Inc., in Humble; senior environmental scientist at Harding Lawson Associates in Houston; and a field investigator in the Harris County Pollution Control Department, Pasadena.
___Born in Nacogdoches, Kathy Coats-Ramey is the daughter of Charles Coats of that city and the late Margie Coats. She is a graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University and the UT Health Science Center, Houston.
___ Larry and Teresa Singletary will live and work with the Karamojong people in Uganda. He will start new churches; she will serve in church and home outreach evangelism.
___They consider Alamo City Christian Fellowship in San Antonio their home church.
___Born in Normangee, he is the son of Ed and Betty Singletary of Madisonville.
___A graduate of East Texas Baptist University and Southwestern Seminary, he has served as pastor of Lakeside Baptist Church in New Braunfels.
___She is the daughter of Doug and Voyce Halford of Schertz.
