Bivocational ministers recognize
Cancino, Richards and Hart

___BELTON--More than 130 dually employed Texas Baptist ministers and spouses honored a pastor, a music minister and a director of missions at the 13th annual statewide Bivocational Ministers and Spouses' Conference, held July 23-25 at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.
___Dan Cancino, pastor of Jerusalem Baptist Mission in Cuero, was recognized as exemplary bivocational pastor of the year. Cancino has served the same congregation for about 30 years in various ministerial roles and has been pastor the last 15 years. He was honored for his part in helping the church develop a strategy for ministry to local families hit by a flood last October.
___Bill Richards, organizer of an intentional interim music ministers'' program in Tarrant Baptist Association and supply music minister at South Lake Baptist Church, was named exemplary music minister.
___Warren Hart, director of missions in Red River Valley Baptist Association, was honored as exemplary director of missions. Hart, who recently returned from a Texas Baptist Men-sponsored mission trip to refugees in Macedonia, serves on the Texas Baptist Bivocational Advisory Team.
___Officers elected by the Texas Baptist Bivocational Ministers and Spouses Association are Bob Ray, pastor of Fairy Baptist Church in Hamilton Baptist Association, president; Greg Oppenhuis, pastor of Oak Tree Baptist Church in Mesquite, first vice president; Mike Barrera, pastor of United Baptist Church in Laredo, second vice president; Tom Echols of Rivercrest Baptist Church in Fort Worth, treasurer; and Rosalind Ray of Fairy Baptist Church, secretary.
___The annual conference was dedicated to the memory of Claud Slate, bivocational founding pastor of Rivercrest Baptist Church in Fort Worth, who died May 4. He was founder of the Tarrant Baptist Bivocational Ministers and Wives Fellowship and served 10 years as president of the Texas Baptist Bivocational Ministers and Spouses Association.
