___bluebull Resolutions sought. Anyone wishing to have resolutions considered by the Baptist General Convention of Texas resolutions committee may submit them in advance of the Nov. 8-9 state convention in El Paso, according to Duane Brooks of Houston, resolutions committee chairman. Deadline for submitting resolutions is 4 p.m. Nov. 8. The report of the resolutions committee must be completed and sent to the printer by 6 p.m. on Nov. 8 in order for the full report to be printed in the Nov. 9 edition of the BGCT Bulletin. Resolutions may be submitted in advance by writing to Brooks at Tallowood Baptist Church, 555 Tallowood, Houston 77024-4944. The BGCT does not follow the Southern Baptist Convention procedure requiring resolutions to be presented on the convention floor. Resolutions may be considered by sending them to the committee.

___bluebull Woods honored with Mace Medal. Bobbye and Britton Wood of Fort Worth were honored during the recent International Marriage Enrichment Conference in Kansas City with the Mace Medal, which is given to a couple who have exemplified outstanding leadership and contribution to marriage enrichment. The medal is the highest award given by the Association for Couples in Marriage Enrichment. The Woods are members of Broadway Baptist Church.

___bluebull Lyon to assist minister/church relations. Steve Lyon, chairman of the pastoral ministry department at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, will spend part of his sabbatical leave working with the office of minister/church relations of the Baptist General Convention of Texas. Lyon will work as a mediator with churches in conflict, as well as present seminars on conflict mediation. He also will assist with the intentional interim ministry program.

___bluebull Baptist Men to help Tyler agency. Texas Baptist Men Builders will construct a new chapel at Breckenridge Village of Tyler, a Baptist-run facility for people with mental disabilities. The Tyler agency is part of Baptist Child & Family Services of San Antonio. This will be the second project for Texas Baptist Men Builders at the Tyler campus. In 1997, more than 300 members of the group helped build the village's six group homes, the vocational facility and the administration building. The chapel construction will be funded by the Rogers Foundation of Tyler, in memory of Robert Rogers.

___bluebull Wayland names BSM director. Wayland Baptist University has named Tommy Foster as Baptist Student Ministry director. Foster has been associate pastor with responsibility for college and career ministries at Shiloh Terrace Baptist Church in Mesquite for the past three years. He also has held a part-time BSM position at Eastfield Community College.

___bluebull Texas author receives award. Brian Shipman of Duncanville is the recipient of this year's Gold Medallion Book Award from the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association for his 1998 book "WWJD Today?" The book, published by Broadman & Holman, is a collection of daily devotions for youth.

___bluebull DBU honors Williams. Sonny Williams, president and chief operating officer of Minyard Food Stores, was awarded an honorary doctor of humanities degree from Dallas Baptist University during Aug. 6 commencement ceremonies. A member of Casa View Baptist Church in Dallas, Williams and his family have been active in numerous community service projects and support for Baptist causes.
