___ Buntains appointed by NAMB. Hamish and Cindy Buntain have been appointed to serve through the Southern Baptist Convention's North American

Mission Board as missionaries in Canada, where he will be an evangelism and leadership consultant. Mrs. Buntain is a Texas native and graduate of the University of Texas at Richardson. Her husband is a graduate of Hardin-Simmons University.
___ Hulme takes student life post at Baylor. Eileen Hulme has been named assistant vice president for student life at Baylor University. A 1982 Baylor graduate, she currently is vice president for student life and interim chief information officer at George Fox University in Newberg, Ore. She will coordinate the inauguration and utilization of the university's new Student Life Complex, scheduled to open this fall.
___ Houston church has fire. Arson is suspected in a June 28 fire that damaged the auditorium and surrounding offices of Bethel Baptist Church in Houston. Fire investigators are linking the incident to a fire earlier that evening at an abandoned hospital in northeast Houston.
___ Thomas to Wayland admissions. Shawn Thomas has been named director of admissions at Wayland Baptist University. Thomas is a 1996 Wayland graduate who previously worked as an admissions counselor there before moving to an admissions position at West Texas A&M in Canyon. Also, Admissions Counselor Danielle Edwards has been promoted to assistant director of admissions.
___ Retirement village planned. Construction began last month on the first phase of a retirement village in northwest Midland that will be owned by the West Texas Baptist Retirement Village Foundation. The first phase will include 49 single-family houses in an enclosed, secure development, said James Cobb Jr., foundation president. Known as Holiday Hill Village, the development will be managed by Baptist Memorials Management Co., which operates similar developments in San Angelo and Burnet.
