Russian shoes
NEW SHOES are given to a Russian orphan by Cindy Kuykendall, a staff member of Buckner International Services for Children, who traveled to Russia in February as part of a team that distributed more than 5,000 pairs of new shoes to children living in orphanages. ___SAN ANTONIO--Christians who exercise faith, obedience and prayer can stand on God's promises, a San Antonio pastor told participants in the Celebrating the Hispanic Woman conference, July 9-10.
___"Standing on the Promises" was the theme for the fifth annual conference, held at First Baptist Church in San Antonio. It attracted 795 women and girls from across the state and as far away as Ecuador, Peru and California. Scores of them made decisions regarding their spiritual condition.

Reynolds honored for
lifetime achievement in music

___FORT WORTH--Southern Baptists know him best as editor of the 1975 "Baptist Hymnal," but musicians around the country know him as one of America's most prolific writers and editors of Christian music.
___Thus, the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers recently recognized William J. Reynolds with its lifetime achievement award for more than five decades of contributions to church music.
