___bluebull O'Rear named vice president. Randy O'Rear has been named vice president for external affairs at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. He has worked at UMHB for eight years, including service as assistant baseball coach, associate director of advancement, director of development and associate vice president for enrollment management.

bluebull Nomination deadline nears. July 31 is the nomination deadline for the 1999 mission service awards, presented by the Texas Baptist Missions Foundation. Awards include the Pioneer Award for service in missions, the Innovator Award for creativity in missions and the Adventurer Award for leadership in missions. ___bluebull Texans to Macedonia. An eight-member Texas Baptist Men volunteer relief team plans to help Kosovar refugees who remain in Macedonia. The Texans will serve in Skopje with the Macedonian Baptist Mission, breaking down bulk food into individual family packs and distributing the supplies. Warren Hart of Paris, director of missions for Red River Valley Baptist Association, will lead the team. Others are Homer Hanna and Vic Barris of First Baptist Church in Beeville; Lee Bevly of Skidmore; John Wheat of Columbus Avenue Baptist Church in Waco; Bill Crowe of Round Rock; Jerry Haag of Shades Mountain Baptist Church in Vestavia Hills; and Bruce Irving of First Baptist Church, George West. The volunteers were scheduled to leave Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport June 27 and to return July 13.
___bluebull HSU announces new funds. Two new scholarship funds and two new annual awards have been announced by Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene. Morey and Elizabeth Millerman of Abilene have endowed a fund to provide assistantships for graduate students involved in coaching the university's football team. This fund is given in honor of Coach Jimmie Keeling. The Millermans also have funded scholarships for student enrichment to benefit students in the university's Logsdon School of Theology. This fund is given in honor of Ron Smith, senior professor of theology. Rev. and Mrs. Robert Lacewell of Abilene also have established an annual Christian leadership award in memory of their son, William Robert Lacewell. A business ethics award also has been established in memory of John Wood, who was a Fort Worth auto dealer. HSU President Lanny Hall and friends of Wood established the award for business majors.
___bluebull Health System names Ehrat. Baptist Health System of San Antonio has named Karen Ehrat executive vice president of hospital operations. She moved from Cincinnati, where she was regional vice president of Mercy Health System.
